An Overview of ThinkIt Speech Recognition Engine

Introduction:
This document provides a brief overview of ThinkIt Speech Recognition (TSR) engine software. It is designed specifically for telephony speech recognition. The kernel is based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM), and the search algorithm has been optimized greatly for speed and accuracy suitable to the characteristics of telephony speech. The Chinese acoustic model was obtained via training speech data with a variety of environments, speakers and accents. So the model should be robust to some extent. Our engine also has the confidence measure technology which can reject most of the unusual speech.
Running environment :
This software works in Microsoft Windows2000 or compatible environment with Intel Pentium 4 or compatible CPUs. Depending on the task size, the main memory can be as low as 256MB or up to 2GB.
Performance and speed:
In a low-end Intel server with a single Intel Pentium 4 CPU (1.8GHZ) and 1GB memory, TSR engine can support up to 16 ports/channels with a moderate vocabulary size (1000words). The overall recognition accuracy is about 95%.
Languages :
TSR engine can handle Chinese and English separately depends on configuration. The actual languages supported in your package depend on the components you have purchased. The default package only has Chinese engine for Mandarin with tolerance of little accent.
Speech grammars:
TSR engine supports JSGF 1.0 Java Speech Grammar Format with a few exceptions and limitations.
Programming Models :
TSR engine is provided as a Windows dll. It provides TSR API which is a set of functions for you to call the engine. TSR API provides standard callback mechanism for applications to communicate with TSR engine. Applications receive events through callback functions.
